i just finished reading cineplex magazine’s top 10 most anticipated movies of 2012 article about the hunger games

and something about that makes me mad

it said “could this be the one that replaces the harry potter void?”

okay, listen. harry potter is a phenomenal series with a great story, and just because there were eight movies and they won’t be making any more doesn’t mean that there is any ‘void’ that needs to be filled. the hunger games is NOT harry potter, in the same way that harry potter is NOT the hunger games. they are two separate series about different things. nobody said that harry potter was going to ‘fill’ the star wars ‘void’. 

i have read (and watched in the case of hp) the entirety of both series and love them both but i really wish that people would just put the hunger games in its own category.
